Edmontonians Vs Bealonians
We went down 2-1 at Edmontonians on Saturday, Luke McCarthys excellent strike gave us a 1-0 half time lead. It all went pear shaped second half with the oppo grabbing two goals and it could have been worse had it not been for Tommy Jones in the Beals goal making at least 3 fantastic saves. Its gonna be a long hard season and we need to pick ourselfs up and keep going, we are not that far from turning these narrow defeats into wins but we need to improve on the negative attitudes and ‘WANT’ it a bit more as too many of us were outbattled on Saturday. Never a better fixture to bounce back next week, Parms at home in the OBI cup.

First League Win

Aloyisians vs Bealonians
We travelled to Aloysians for our 5th away game in a row on Saturday. We started well again, looking sharp with plenty of energy, but after only 10 mins the oppo were reduced to 10, the ref sent their player off for grabbing Berack round the throat. We couldn’t make the extra man advantage count for the remainder of the first half although just like in previous weeks, we had created enough chances to kill the game off, but were trying to play hollywood balls and score screamers, rather than play it smart. Half Time 0-0 We knew we needed to improve and we all responded. We were instantly on top, good work from Nketia and the ball dropped to Hannaford to make it 1-0 Beals. After that goal the game turned into a constant onslaught of Beals pressure, Payne, pulling the strings in midfield Nketia and Berack linking up well on the left likewise McCarthy and Nyman on the right, and it was McCarthy’s ball that set up Sheppey to make it 2-0. Sword set up Hannaford for the!
3rd and then took himself off to introduce Boudaboussa for his Beals debut. By then the oppo then decided to play with 3 of their remaining 10 players upfront, but the back four, marshalled by Gumble, Bye and Johnny Reid weren’t letting anything past. It was 4-0 shortly after, excellent free kick from Berack (although the celebration needs work).
Beals then completed the rout, another 2 for Hannaford either side of an Nketia penalty after trickery from Boudaboussa resulted in him being fouled in the box. Final Score 7-0 Comprehensive result, very good performance (especially 2nd half) and again some excellent football played. We are starting to get a TEAM together now, roll on next week!!

Up and Running

Bealonians vs East Barnet Old Gramms

The 4th XI showed the kind of team spirit that won them promotion last season, clinching a last gasp win away at EBOG in the AFA cup. Beals started brightly, Lee Gumble and Luke McCarthy looking lively on the wings, Payne strong in the middle and the defence of Nyman, Bye, S Gumble and Berack holding a solid line. Beals took a deserved lead, excellent hold up play and through ball from Sheppard and brilliant finish from Luke McCarthy 1-0 Beals. EBOG equalised shortly after, their winger allowed too much space to get a cross in, and improvisation from their striker 1-1. Beals continued to create chances but again, like the previous 2 weeks, went begging even though Luke had another perfectly good goal ruled out AGAIN!! EBOG then went further in front through 2 very debatable goals, one where a clear foul on Sheppard in the build up went unpunished and the other where the goal scorer was 5 yards offside. Half time 3-1 EBOG, once again Beals the better team, but once again not getting what they deserved. Beals started the second half well and good work from Joe Jones up top robbing the oppo and finishing from a tight angle reduced the deficit. Poor marking from a corner allowed the oppo to restore their 2 goal lead and Sword made 2 changes shortly after taking himself and Lee Gumble off and introducing Hannaford and Nketia. Beals had Tom Jones to thank for a world class save from their centre half to keep beals in it and that seemed to change the game, from that moment on it was constant beals pressure, good work again from McCarthy and Nketia and Payne and Sheppard running things in the centre of the park. Finally….. wait for it…… BEALS GET A STROKE OF LUCK…. Hannafords shot bobbled up, hit his shin and looped into the top corner 3-4. 10 mins to go, game on!! That installed the belief the team needed to really push for an equaliser and they got it courtesy of a ROCKET from Adam Nyman, get shot from his left peg. He nearly got a brace shortly after but his shot cruelly hit the inside of the post. Just as extra time beckoned Beals got a free kick 30 yards out, Scott Gumble stepped up and smacked a powerhouse of a shot that nearly broke the crossbar, the ball came back down and Luke McCarthy popped up to get on the end of it. FINAL SCORE EBOG 4-5 BEALS Excellent performance, excellent teamwork, excellent result, well done to all the lads. Let’s carry this on and transfer this over to the league this coming Saturday in ANOTHER away game, this time Aloyisians.

Enfield Old Grammarians 3 vs Bealonians 2
Beals 4s suffered another defeat on Saturday, in a game they were in complete control of and shouldn’t have lost. We started with only 10 men as one of our players got stuck in traffic, but that didn’t affect us and we took the lead after Luke McCarthy tapped in.
We went 2 up through Luke midway through the first half and were cruising at this point, looking strong and comfortable all over the pitch, the only negative from the first half is that we weren’t completely out of sight as we had missed plenty of chances and had a goal ruled out by a very debatable offside decision. Half time 2-0 Within 30 seconds of the kick off the oppo had pulled one back, a good ball and finish from their striker. Beals wasted numerous more chances and were made to pay midway into the second half when poor marking from beals was punished from the oppos free kick. We then had a golden opportunity to restore our deserved lead, but unfortunately Scott’s penalty was saved by their keeper!
Another set piece completed the turnaround when an opposition player was left to head home from a corner. Final Score 2-3 For the second week in a row Beals have been much the better side, but again missing chances to put the game to bed have cost us. Next up EBOG in the AFA cup, we need to show character, keep our heads up, keep playing our football but take our chances to avoid our season slipping away after only 4 games.

No Justice!!

Bealonians vs Albanian
The 4s went down 3-2 at Albanian on Saturday although the score line didn’t tell the whole story. The match was spoilt by awful refereeing as the ref didn’t seem to have any idea of the rules meaning he couldn’t control the game. Although the ref was poor we should have still been out of sight as we created enough chances to win 2 games, and were camped in the oppos half all 2nd half, but it just turned out to be one of those days. The player’s effort couldn’t be faulted and judging by how much we dominated the game if we can keep up that level and attitude I’m sure things will pick up quickly.
2 cup games in 2 weeks now, we have to put the bad league start to the back of our minds and start a cup run.

Bealonians 4th XI vs Wood Green Old Boys II

Beals 4th XI travelled to Wood Green, with a makeshift team full of players who have never played together but nevertheless confident of a good performance and result. After a complete nightmare with the refereeing situation the game kicked off but we never really got going and found ourselves 1-0 down early on, we then started looking a little brighter and got a deserved penalty as Lee Gumble was fouled in the box. Scott Gumble converted the pen but that was pretty much as good as it got. The game eventually finished 2-7 with Rob Hannaford getting our other goal. Even though there were 2 leagues seperating the teams last year and the score line did flatter them it is still an awful result and poor start to the season. There are though, some positives we can take instead of focusing too much on the
negatives: We started worse last season and still had a fantastic season. We DID play some good football at times and We have an immediate chance to put things right in next week’s game. If we can start playing the football we have shown in spells more consistently and more importantly play as a TEAM!! I’m confident we will be OK. Roll on next week and the chance to put things right!!

Wake Up Call!!

13.09.2010

Bealonians 4TH XI vs Parmitarians

Beals got a massive wake up call on Saturday as a poor performance was thoroughly punished by a well organised parms side.
Beals really didn’t get started from the first whistle and it was only down to the back fours solid line that the half time score of 0-1 wasn’t worse. Beals changed the formation and went three in centre midfield which worked for a short time and got an equaliser early in the second half, Dan Headley punishing a poor back pass to make it 1-1. But that was as good as it got for beals as a debatable pen gave parms a 2-1 lead, shortly after they made it 3-1 and ran riot late in the second half with another 3 goals. Final Score Beals 1-6 Parms The result was disappointing but the most disappointing thing of all on Saturday was certain players attitudes. After going 3-1 down certain players just gave up and couldn’t be bothered. Both the performance and this type of attitude will need to change drastically and quick if we are to get back to winning ways in the AFA cup next week.!

Bealonians 4th XI vs Old Parmitarians
11/05/2010

Beals 4s were beaten at the final hurdle on Saturday against a well organised and physical Old Parmitarians side, although the final scoreline didnt really tell the whole story. Beals started really well and were on the front foot creating chances for Lambell and Plunkett which unfortunatly couldnt be converted. The defence were holding solid and the team looked very comfortable. Then a hammer blow just before half time, beals didnt deal with a long ball properly and the Parms striker was straight onto it, Cecile did well to force him wide but he still managed to find a gap and find the net 0-1. Beals still couldnt find a way through and Parms got a second when the ball seemed to get caught up in the wind and the striker knocked it in 0-2. Sword came on for the injured Payne Nketia and Headly followed shortly after to try and force Beals back into it. Nketia and Headly looked lively and Sword came close with a shot but beals just couldnt find a way though. The misery was compounded late in the second half when an early shot caught out Cecile to make it 0-3 and kill the came off. So a dissapointing way to end the season, but rather than focus on the dissapointment we have plenty of positives to take into the new season after gaining a deserved promotion to 3 North. A big well done to everyone that has been involved with the 4s this season and already looking forward to a new challange in a new league next year!!

Bealonians vs Egbertians
date: 01/05/2010

Beals 4s ensured they finished thier away league season with an unbeaten record that reads 7 wins and 1 draw. All the beals players got together before kick off to discuss what was needed for the remaining 180 minutes of the season and everyone was in agreement that nothing short of 110% and the whole team pulling together as a ‘team’
would do. Beals flew out of the traps and egbertian didnt know what hit them, all the beals players clearly wanted it and were first to everything with plenty of talking going on and they got thier deserved breakthrough from a well taken plunkett goal 1-0, Scott Gumble gambled in the box and got his reward to make it 2-0 and Ed Lambell rounded off the 1st half scoring with his 19th of the season. Half Time 3-0 The oppo, obviously fired up for an improvement came more into the game in the second half, and got one back but that was the only time they managed to break the beals back line who were excellent all game.
Beals were not finished though and Carl Edwards forced the defence into a mistake and the ball fell kindly for Plunkett to finish and at the same time take the lead in the race for the Beals golden boot. Well Done Danny!! Final Score Egbertian 1-4 Beals Arguably the best performance of the season, and now for the big 1….. BEALONIANS 4s Vs OLD PARMITARIANS 4s 08/05/10 a win or a draw will be good enough to take the 4 North league title!! BE THERE TO CHEER THE LADS ONTO THE TITLE!!!!!!

Bealonians 4XI vs Mill Hill County (a)

Beals gained promotion to 3 North on saturday with a hard
fought win over Mill Hill County Old Boys. On a baking hot day at RSL,
both sides needed the points for different reasons. The game started
reasonably even but it was beals who made the breakthrough Curtis
Payne with a fantastic header from Beracks corner 1-0. That lead
berely lasted 5 minutes when a quickly taken County free kick caught
Beals napping 1-1. Swords through ball found Gumble who finished well
to make it 2-1 and thats how it stayed until half time. Beals started
the second half poorly and Mill Hill equalised for the second time
2-2, the game continued to be a bitty affair with not much decent
football played but beals finally retook the lead, Nketia found Scott
Gumble who picked his spot 3-2 beals. Dan Headley made it 4-2 with an
emphatic finish to give beals some much needed breathing space. Mill
Hill managed another but thankfully thier 3rd goal proved to be the
last kick of the game and another! 3 points for Beals!! Final Score Beals 4-3 County. Not the best performance and some issues need to be addressed before the next game, but at the end of the day it is the result that matters, so another 3 points and promotion equals a pretty successfull day!!
