As part of our pre-season Bealonians have been proud to host two excellent games of football that keep alive the memory of two of our past members, Paul Crick and Stuart Osborne.
At the beginning of August family and friends of Stuart braved the searing heat of Oakfield and entertained the crowd with 1-1 draw and a penalty shoot out, and reminder that penalties aren’t easy, nine taken and only one scored!
The first Saturday in September saw the fourth edition of the Paul Crick Memorial match and the most competitive game to date, with the Bealonians XI running out 4-2 winners, to clinch the trophy meaning both sides have two victories apiece. Make a note in your diary now for next year’s game on Saturday 7th September 2019.
The most pleasing aspect of these games is that it brings old friends and foes together and demonstrates what wonderful enjoyment the game of football brings to us all as well as raising funds for the charities Stuart and Paul’s family and friends care for.
“Thanks so much for the wonderfully generous sum of £380 for the Good Shepherd Project (GSP). What a great way for Stuart’s footballing friends to celebrate his life. Through that donation, there will be many children, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, where the project carries out its work, being cared for and the present building is being extended to take in many more children. On behalf of GSP please pass on our very grateful thanks to all those that took part in the event and their supporters.” Pat Liddiard, Chairperson of the Good Shepherd project
